Hyundai Motor Company India Ltd. has announced the appointment of Tarun Garg as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, making him the first Indian to take on this leadership role.
The Board of Directors of Hyundai Motor Company approved the succession plan, confirming that current Managing Director Unsoo Kim will return to South Korea to take up a strategic position at the parent organisation effective December 31, 2025. Tarun Garg will officially assume his responsibilities on January 1, 2026.
This leadership transition marks an important milestone in Hyundai Motor India’s journey, reflecting the company’s commitment to local leadership and a stronger market-focused strategy.
Tarun Garg brings more than three decades of experience in the automotive industry. He has been associated with Hyundai Motor India for nearly six years, where he has served as Chief Operating Officer and previously as Director of Sales, Marketing, and Service. Before joining Hyundai, he spent over 25 years at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, holding key leadership roles including Executive Director of Marketing and Executive Vice President of Nexa.
Tarun’s extensive experience in sales strategy, customer engagement, and market development positions him well to lead Hyundai Motor India into its next phase of growth and innovation.
