Tamil Nadu Launches Dedicated Desk To Boost Global Capability Centres

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T R B Rajaa has announced the creation of a dedicated desk at the Guidance Office to address all queries related to Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

The move aims to improve communication and offer targeted support for companies and stakeholders operating in or planning to invest in GCCs in the state. Speaking at the GCC Next Summit 25 organised by a business forum, the Minister said the new desk would help ensure faster clearances for investors. Work on the initiative is already in progress.

In a fireside chat with Suresh Sambandam, founder and CEO of Kissflow, on the theme “Tamil Nadu – The GCC Destination,” the Minister stressed the importance of strengthening Chennai’s research and development ecosystem. He urged participants to scale up their investment in R&D, pointing out that research thrives only when researchers have the necessary safety nets and support systems.

Highlighting the state’s infrastructure developments, the Minister mentioned the rise of modern workspaces in Coimbatore and the construction of a Neo Tidel facility in Kanyakumari. These projects form part of a larger plan to expand GCC infrastructure beyond traditional hubs.

Tamil Nadu is currently home to more than 350 GCCs, with nearly 300 located in Chennai. Others are spread across Salem, Vellore, Madurai, Tiruchi, and Tirunelveli, signalling the state’s growing presence in the global capability centre sector.
