Tally Solutions integrates AI to simplify accounting for SMEs

Tally Solutions Pvt Ltd is entering a new phase by bringing artificial intelligence into its long-standing mission of simplifying accounting for small and medium enterprises. “The next logical step is integrating AI into the core of our understanding,” said Nabendu Das, chief of engineering and head of products at Tally Solutions.

The company is currently working on projects centred around automation and conversational AI to make accounting tasks easier for users. One of its key pilot initiatives focuses on automating invoice exchange, allowing an invoice sent through WhatsApp or email to “automatically become an invoice on your system,” Das explained.

Tally is also developing a conversational engine designed to help users ask business questions in natural language, such as “Who were my top three customers in the last three years?” and receive instant insights. This move marks a shift in how SMEs can interact with and understand their financial data.

Looking ahead, the company is exploring the development of a domain-specific accounting large language model. It is experimenting with multiple AI models, including Llama, Qwen 2.5, and Gemini. “We don’t want to get stuck with one model,” Das emphasised, underlining Tally’s commitment to flexibility and precision.

Through projects like DocAI and secure, encrypted data management, Tally aims to make AI simple, reliable, and intuitive for small businesses while staying true to its core SME-first vision.
