In an exciting leadership development, Syngene International has announced the appointment of Peter Bains as its Managing Director (MD) & Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective April 1, 2025. The decision was officially approved by the company’s board and marks the beginning of a new chapter for Syngene, with Bains taking the reins for a term of two years.
Bains, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of international experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, brings a wealth of expertise to his new role. Before this appointment, he was serving as the Group CEO of Biocon, a position he stepped into in September 2023. His impressive career also includes a previous tenure as CEO of Syngene International, where he led the company through its successful public listing in 2015.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Science from the University of Sheffield, Bains has held significant leadership positions across prestigious global organizations. His earlier roles included senior positions at Sosei Group and GlaxoSmithKline, where his strategic vision contributed to their success in the highly competitive biopharmaceutical sector.
In his new capacity as MD & CFO at Syngene International, Bains will continue to drive the company’s efforts to offer integrated research, development, and manufacturing services across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, nutrition, animal health, consumer goods, and specialty chemicals. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding Syngene through its next phase of growth and innovation on the global stage.
