Sun Life Asia senior vice president, CFO
Li will be in charge of operational finance, capital allocation, and financial strategy for Sun Life’s Asian markets. Despite recent market constraints, his work will be centered on coordinating financial operations with the company’s larger commercial goals in the region, which continues to be a crucial area for growth.
Li, who has been with Sun Life for more than 20 years and has held executive roles in finance, actuarial services, and group benefits across Asia and Canada, has been acting as interim CFO since September 2024. He served as Mainland China’s vice president, head of strategic finance, and country manager before taking on the position as interim CFO.
According to Deacon, Bennet’s financial leadership and experience in Asia will be crucial in bolstering the company’s operations in the area.
“I’m delighted to announce Bennet’s appointment as CFO, Sun Life Asia. Bennet’s deep understanding of our Asia business, proven track record of building strong partnerships and developing talent, as well as his ability to execute on key strategic initiatives, makes him the ideal leader to help deliver on our Asia growth strategy,” he said.
Li will join the Asia executive team and be stationed in Sun Life’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries, and he graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts.
