Spotify has announced three new Premium subscription tiers in India, offering users more choice and flexibility in how they experience music. The plans include Premium Lite, Premium Standard, and Premium Platinum, with prices starting at Rs 139 per month.
In a statement, Spotify said the new portfolio has been designed to reflect the diverse ways Indians stream music. “While Spotify has become an integral part of listeners’ lives in India, the way people stream varies from those discovering music for the first time to passionate audiophiles seeking high-quality sound and advanced discovery features. The new portfolio reflects this diversity,” the company said.
The Premium Lite plan, priced at Rs 139 per month, offers an ad-free listening experience. The Premium Standard plan, available for Rs 199 per month, includes ad-free and high-quality streaming along with offline access to songs, playlists, and podcasts. The Rs 99 per month Student plan also offers similar benefits for eligible users.
The top-tier Premium Platinum plan, priced at Rs 299 per month, includes advanced AI-powered features such as AI DJ, AI playlist creation, and support for third-party DJ integrations and mixing tools. Two additional members from the same household can also create separate accounts under one Platinum plan. Subscribers will further gain access to lossless audio streaming for uncompressed, high-quality sound.
Amarjit Singh Batra, managing director of Spotify India, said, “We are evolving our Premium subscription portfolio from the one-size-fits-all model to reflect the diverse ways people listen to music in India. Every listener is different, so we’re offering more choice, flexibility, and control from Lite to Platinum, ensuring everyone can experience Spotify in a way that fits their lifestyle and deepens their connection to the music and creators they love.”
Earlier this year, Spotify increased its base Premium price from Rs 119 to Rs 139 per month in several regions, including India. CEO Daniel Ek has previously said that India and other emerging markets remain key drivers of future growth.
The company recently reported strong third-quarter earnings, with revenue rising 12 per cent year-on-year and Premium subscribers growing to 281 million. Spotify now has 713 million monthly active users globally and expects further gains in the fourth quarter, supported by festive season demand and price adjustments.
