Space42, the UAE-based AI-powered SpaceTech company, has partnered with Microsoft to launch the UAE’s first Sovereign Mobility Cloud. Announced at the Dubai World Congress, the initiative combines Space42’s expertise in autonomous mobility with Microsoft’s cloud and logistics applications. The platform will accelerate the deployment of autonomous mobility solutions while keeping all data securely hosted in the UAE and fully compliant with national regulations.
Dr. Fan Zhu, Senior Vice President of Autonomous Mobility at Space42, said, “By building the nation’s first Sovereign Mobility Cloud with Core42 and Microsoft, we are setting a global standard for secure, trusted platforms in mobility and autonomous systems.”
Sherif Tawfik, Chief Partnership Officer for AI & Cloud at Microsoft, added, “This partnership with Space42 sets a new benchmark for data sovereignty in the region by combining secure infrastructure, compliance, and advanced AI capabilities for autonomous systems.”
Key features of the Sovereign Mobility Cloud include:
- Trusted infrastructure for mobility data and autonomous systems
- Platforms for HD mapping, telematics, fleet operations, traffic management, and digital twins
- Secure data sharing across government, industry, and research stakeholders
Next steps include establishing reference deployments, regulatory sandboxes, and test hubs with UAE transport authorities while engaging global automotive, technology, and academic partners to scale the ecosystem.
Since 2021, Space42 has logged nearly 600,000 km of autonomous driving and completed 20,000 passenger trips without incident. Its fleet operates across Saadiyat, Yas, Al Maryah, and Al Reem Islands, as well as Abu Dhabi Airport. The Sovereign Mobility Cloud will further strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a global hub for intelligent transport.
