In honor of Women’s Month, Sun Life Global Solutions (SLGS) Philippines, the company’s global capability center, held a session called “IT Girls: Empowering the Youth in their IT Careers” with the goal of motivating and preparing young women for careers in information technology.
Students from different colleges came together for an afternoon of educational discussions and interactive activities conducted by SLGS Philippines leaders as part of the event, which was organized in collaboration with WiTech (Women in Technology).
The event emphasized job options inside SLGS and offered insightful advice on navigating the IT business.
Under the direction of Jennifer Lumbao, SLGS Head of Asia Technology, the workshop included talks and presentations on important IT developments, such as GenAI, Big Data, and Robotic Process Automation.
Sun Buddy, a round-the-clock adviser helper, and Sun Life Asks, an internal GenAI chatbot honored at the 2024 CIO Awards Canada, were among the cutting-edge innovations that SLGS demonstrated.
Additionally emphasized was the Sun Life mobile app, which was created to improve customer interaction. In addition, the app has a frequently asked questions area, an office location, and a find-an-advisor function.
With input from SLGS coaches and leaders, participants engaged in a design thinking activity aimed at enhancing financial wellbeing.
Katrina Rodriguez, Head of Human Resources and Communications at SLGS Philippines, presented the company’s “Sun Risers” onboarding program and offered career advice, including interview and workplace suggestions.
Employee-led Inclusion Networks and the “Bright Women” program, which offer professional development and mentorship to women in technology, are two examples of SLGS Philippines’ dedication to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEI&B) programs.
With the theme “Her Health, Her Power,” the corporation also commemorated International Women’s Day by hosting a number of events that promoted women’s empowerment and general well-being.
