A glimpse into the future of last-mile logistics was on display as an Indian drone logistics company revealed a delivery model designed to work without any human involvement.
Skye Air Mobility demonstrated an end-to-end autonomous delivery setup at the India AI Impact Summit. The system uses drones, Arrive Points, and ground robots to complete deliveries from start to finish. Packages are transported by drones to Arrive Points, after which ground robots take over to deliver them directly to customers’ doorsteps.
The drones used in this setup are capable of carrying payloads of up to 10kg. This makes them suitable for transporting groceries, medicines, and e-commerce orders. The delivery system is designed to integrate with multiple shopping platforms, with a focus on improving delivery speed and overall efficiency.
Skye Air Mobility said the solution aims to streamline logistics while reducing dependency on traditional delivery infrastructure. By combining aerial and ground-based automation, the model addresses last-mile challenges in dense urban environments.
The company has already demonstrated scale in its operations. Over the past 2 years, Skye Air Mobility has completed more than 3.6 million deliveries. During this period, it claims to have saved over 1,000 tons of CO2 when compared to conventional delivery methods.
The milestone highlights the potential of drone-led logistics in supporting greener cities and faster delivery timelines. With automation at its core, the model points toward reduced emissions, lower operational costs, and shorter waiting times for customers.
