Silicon Labs scales Hyderabad GCC with 50% expansion to boost wireless innovation

In a strong signal of its long-term India strategy, Silicon Labs has expanded its Hyderabad Global Capability Center by 50%, strengthening its global engineering and wireless R&D capabilities. The expansion ceremony was attended by Laura E. Williams, U.S. Consul General in Hyderabad, highlighting growing U.S.–India technology collaboration.

Headquartered in Austin, Silicon Labs continues to deepen its India presence through this infrastructure scale-up in Hyderabad. The expanded footprint includes advanced labs for wireless design, validation and system integration, larger engineering collaboration spaces, and upgraded infrastructure to support hiring and long-term innovation growth.

Since starting operations in Hyderabad in 2020, the company has more than tripled its India workforce. The center now supports R&D, engineering, product development, operations, sales, technical marketing and IT. It plays a key role in the company’s global operations.

Matt Johnson, President and CEO of Silicon Labs, described Hyderabad as a critical hub in the company’s global engineering network. “This expansion is a long-term investment in talent, innovation, and global collaboration. It strengthens our ability to deliver secure, power-efficient wireless solutions worldwide while deepening collaboration across the United States, Europe, and Asia.”

The upgraded facility will enhance development across software, hardware and wireless connectivity technologies. These areas are central to the company’s global wireless portfolio.

Manish Kothari, Senior Vice President of Software Development, said the expansion increases the site’s ability to drive invention and execution, further strengthening its position as a core R&D center.

“The continued growth of U.S. technology investment in India reflects the deep collaboration between our two countries,” said Laura E. Williams at the event.

The ceremony was attended by global leaders including Matt Johnson, CFO Dean Butler, SVP Manish Kothari, CIO Radhika Chennakeshavula, and Nestor Ho, Chief Legal Officer and VP of Government Affairs and Public Policy.

With operations in more than 16 countries, Silicon Labs develops low-power wireless connectivity solutions for smart homes, industrial IoT and smart cities. The Hyderabad expansion reinforces its role in global product development and long-term wireless innovation.
