In his expanded role, Shekhar will lead Google’s LCS strategy across these key segments, focusing on business growth, strategic partnerships, and large-scale digital transformation for some of India’s most influential institutions.
The appointment strengthens Google’s leadership bench as it deepens engagement with public and private sector organizations undergoing rapid technology adoption. Shekhar will be responsible for aligning customer needs with Google’s solutions to deliver measurable outcomes across complex, high-impact ecosystems.
Before this elevation, Shekhar served as Industry Head for Technology, Media & Entertainment, and Telecom at Google. Earlier, he led the Media & Entertainment vertical, where he worked closely with leading enterprises to scale digital platforms, data-driven operations, and cloud-led innovation.
Shekhar brings over 20 years of cross-industry experience to the role. Prior to joining Google, he held senior positions at Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., Disney Star, and The Knowledge Company. Across these roles, he built strong expertise in leadership, enterprise sales strategy, and sector-focused growth initiatives.
His career spans multiple industries, giving him a broad perspective on how technology can drive transformation at scale. This background is expected to play a key role as he works with government bodies, financial institutions, educational organizations, and automotive leaders navigating digital change.
With this move, Google signals a continued focus on strengthening its large customer engagement in India’s priority sectors, where cloud, data, and AI-led solutions are becoming central to long-term growth and competitiveness.
