At a time when enterprises are reassessing how and where their AI systems operate, Shunya Labs has introduced a new platform aimed at giving organizations full control over their artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Shunya Labs, a research-focused voice AI company, has announced the launch of its Enterprise Sovereign AI Platform. The platform is designed as a foundational AI layer that allows organizations to run high-performance AI entirely within their own infrastructure, without relying on external cloud providers.
The launch comes as enterprises face increasing regulatory pressure from frameworks such as the EU AI Act and India’s DPDP Act. Alongside compliance requirements, concerns around data security, AI data leakage, and long-term vendor lock-in are pushing organizations to move away from cloud-first, black-box AI services. As AI becomes mission-critical, demand is rising for systems that offer greater control, transparency, and reliability.
Built for regulated and high-trust environments
Shunya’s platform enables deployment of voice AI across private cloud, on-premises data centers, edge environments, and fully air-gapped systems. It delivers sub-100 ms latency and under-3% word error rates, with no external data dependency. The architecture ensures zero data exfiltration, full jurisdictional control, and complete ownership of AI pipelines.
The platform is designed for regulated use cases across healthcare, BFSI, defense, contact centers, and enterprise operations. According to Shunya Labs, more organizations are looking to bring AI workloads in-house as part of long-term compliance and data governance strategies.
Cost-efficient, CPU-first design
The platform follows a CPU-first architecture, removing the need for expensive GPU infrastructure and reducing deployment costs by up to 20x. This approach makes sovereign AI accessible not only to large enterprises but also to mid-sized organizations seeking privacy, performance, and cost efficiency. Its modular design allows deployments across public cloud, private cloud, on-prem, edge, or air-gapped environments using the same AI stack.
Leadership perspective
Commenting on the launch, Ritu Mehrotra, Co-Founder and CEO of Shunya Labs, said: “Most enterprises today don’t actually run AI , they rent it from cloud providers. That works for pilots, but it’s a fragile model for core systems. AI is becoming infrastructure, like databases or operating systems. And just like those, enterprises will eventually demand to own and control it. Shunya exists to make AI something organizations can actually operate themselves , not outsource to a black box.”
Security at the core
Security and compliance are embedded at the infrastructure level. The platform supports TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, customer-managed keys, and isolated deployments. It is designed to meet standards including HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, and India’s DPDP Act.
Shunya Labs positions itself not as an application provider, but as a core AI infrastructure layer for enterprises building long-term, compliant, and defensible AI capabilities.
