Shearwater GeoServices has announced the appointment of Simon Telfer as its new Chief Technology Officer. In his new role, he will lead the company’s technology strategy, focusing on advancing seismic data processing and imaging capabilities.
Simon has been with Shearwater GeoServices for more than nine years, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Processing and Imaging. In that role, he drove major transformation initiatives and played a key part in enhancing the company’s imaging technologies. Before that, he worked as Onboard Processing Manager at Shearwater, where he was responsible for overseeing operational processing onboard vessels.
His career spans extensive experience in the offshore seismic industry. Prior to joining Shearwater, Simon worked with Dolphin Geophysical as Onboard Processing Manager, gaining strong operational expertise in offshore environments. Earlier, he spent several years at CGG, where he held a range of positions including Onboard Processing Supervisor, Geophysical Advisor, Team Leader and Senior Geophysicist. These roles gave him deep technical knowledge and leadership experience in seismic processing and data analysis.
Simon began his career at Gardline Geosciences as a Seismic Processor, where he built a strong technical foundation in seismic data processing that would shape the rest of his career.
With his extensive background in seismic imaging, offshore operations and technological innovation, Simon Telfer is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Shearwater GeoServices’ position as a leader in geophysical services.
