Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently met with Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins and his team, strongly encouraging the technology giant to deepen and broaden its presence within India’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The discussions focused on leveraging India’s vast potential, its burgeoning talent pool, and the nation’s significant advancements in critical areas like the 6G revolution and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Minister Scindia urged Cisco to not only deepen its technological footprint but also to expand its reach into India’s Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. Scindia emphasized the importance of strengthening cybersecurity infrastructure and actively co-creating solutions that directly benefit citizens at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, Scindia extended an invitation to Cisco to explore broader investment opportunities across India’s diverse digital technology sector, highlighting the critical need for developing comprehensive digital ecosystems beyond mere physical infrastructure.
“The inauguration of the Cisco’s manufacturing facility in India producing advanced telecom equipment is a testament to the country’s growing Atmanirbharta in the global technology landscape,” Scindia had said at the launch of the manufacturing facility
This engagement builds upon Cisco’s existing commitment to India, which includes its first manufacturing facility inaugurated in Chennai in 2024. This facility is projected to generate over $1.3 billion in annual revenue and create 1,200 jobs, underscoring the significant economic impact of such investments.
The Minister’s call signals India’s intent to attract more advanced technology and strategic collaborations to further propel its digital growth story.
