A new era is unfolding in the Silicon Valley of India as global tech giant SAP prepares to open the gates to its sprawling 41-acre green campus in Devanahalli, Bengaluru. Scheduled to become operational by August, this state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence is poised to accommodate 15000 professionals, marking a significant milestone in the company’s journey of innovation and global service delivery.
This will be SAP’s second campus in Bengaluru, a testament to its deep-rooted presence in the Indian technology landscape since 1998. Currently employing 14000 people across five major Indian cities including Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Gurugram and Bengaluru, SAP Labs India stands as the largest R&D hub for the company outside its Walldorf headquarters in Germany.
“India is one of our largest development centers and we are opening a new facility later this year that has even more capacity. Given its size, from a product engineering perspective, it is a very self-sufficient and decoupled environment,” said Muhammed Alam, executive board member and head of Product and Engineering at SAP during SAP Sapphire 2025.
Adding more insight into the initiative, Manish Prasad, President and Managing Director of SAP for the Indian subcontinent, shared, “The new Centre of Excellence should get operational in the second half of the year, may be July-August.” He highlighted how this eco-conscious campus would not only cater to the rising demand from global clients but also strengthen support services for Indian businesses.
SAP is actively building next-generation AI-driven solutions across verticals including S/4 HANA, HXM, and sustainability platforms. Prasad remarked on India’s booming market, saying, “Business is growing across all verticals, including automobile, healthcare and retail. Indian companies are adopting AI at a really fast pace. We are also tapping the mid-sized markets.”
SAP’s CEO Christian Klein noted that the company’s distributed campuses, including those in locations like Palo Alto, have ensured seamless project delivery despite global challenges like trade restrictions or visa issues. However, he acknowledged potential shifts in manufacturing and logistics, pointing toward growing capabilities in Indonesia over China.
Despite a hybrid work model, SAP believes in the magic of collaboration. This green campus focuses not just on technology but also champions sustainability, inclusivity and employee well-being.
