Cisco has announced the appointment of Sandeep Agarwal as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Security for India and SAARC. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s security strategy and technology initiatives in the region, using his expertise in cybersecurity, risk governance, and compliance to enhance digital resilience for businesses.
Sandeep brings more than 20 years of experience across technology, finance, and consulting sectors. At Google Cloud, he worked as a Security Specialist, supporting clients in adopting secure cloud-based solutions. Before that, Sandeep served as Vice President and later Director of Security and Compliance at OakNorth, where he was responsible for global risk governance and product security architecture.
Sandeep also held an important position at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as Security Specialist Solutions Architect, where he contributed to strengthening AWS’s position as a reliable technology partner in India and South Asia’s public sector. His leadership journey further includes senior roles as Assistant Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Max Life Insurance, and Vice President and CISO at Moody’s Analytics Knowledge Services, managing information security, data privacy, and business continuity.
Earlier in his career, Sandeep gained valuable experience with organisations such as Al Khalij Commercial Bank, PwC, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Barclays Capital, and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). These roles provided him with a strong foundation in IT governance, security frameworks, and applied research, shaping his ability to build secure and resilient systems.
With this appointment, Cisco aims to further strengthen its security-focused technology vision and drive innovation across India and SAARC.
