Apple and Google may adopt Samsung M16 OLED panels for next flagship smartphones

New leaks suggest that upcoming flagship smartphones from Apple and Google could feature advanced display technology supplied by Samsung Display. The development comes as details around next-generation devices begin to surface online.

According to a report by a publication citing industry sources, Samsung Display is expected to supply its next-generation M series OLED panel to both companies. This new panel is said to use the latest M16 luminescent material and will succeed the current M14 OLED panel used in flagship devices like the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iQOO 15.

The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple’s rumoured foldable phone, along with the Google Pixel 11, Google Pixel 11 Pro, and Google Pixel 11 Pro XL are expected to launch in the second half of 2026 with this new display panel.

The M16 OLED panel is said to deliver improved display performance compared to the M14 version. Samsung is also expected to supply this upgraded panel to other smartphone brands for their upcoming flagship models.

On the design front, renders of the Google Pixel 11 Pro have recently surfaced, hinting at a larger, tinted glass cover over the pill-shaped rear camera module. This module is expected to include 3 cameras and an LED flash. Reports also suggest that the LED flash may be placed under the glass cover, instead of outside, as seen in earlier models. The device is likely to be powered by Google’s Tensor G6 chipset.

Meanwhile, Apple is expected to skip the standard iPhone 18 model and instead introduce the Pro lineup along with its foldable device in September. The iPhone 18 Pro is likely to feature an upgraded 24MP front camera for selfies and video calls, positioned within a smaller Dynamic Island.

While official announcements are still awaited, more details about these devices are expected to emerge in the coming months.
