Samsung’s next flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra promises faster wired and wireless charging

Samsung is reportedly gearing up for a major upgrade for its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, with faster wired charging support. The company appears to be moving beyond its long-standing 45W limit, potentially introducing 60W fast charging. If accurate, this change would reduce charging times significantly and bring Samsung closer to competitors that already offer higher charging speeds.

Tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) recently shared that internal testing suggests the Galaxy S26 Ultra can charge from 0% to 75% in just 30 minutes under Samsung-controlled conditions. These results were reportedly achieved using certified accessories and ideal settings, aimed at measuring the phone’s maximum charging performance. Real-world speeds, however, may vary depending on factors such as battery health, charger quality, temperature, and phone usage during charging.

Further evidence of the upgrade has appeared in certification filings. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, listed under the model number SM-S9480 on China’s 3C certification website, reportedly supports 60W charging at 20.0V DC and 3.0A. The listing also suggests the phone may not include a charger in the box, following Samsung’s recent packaging trends. Earlier leaks hint that the feature could be marketed as “Super Fast Charging 3.0” and has been referenced as “Level 4” charging in leaked One UI 8.5 firmware. The device is also expected to support 25W Qi2 wireless charging.

Overall, the shift to 60W wired charging represents a clear improvement over the current 45W standard, even if real-world performance varies. Samsung is reportedly already conducting internal testing of the device ahead of an anticipated launch by the end of next month. With these upgrades, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could strengthen Samsung’s position in the premium smartphone market while offering users a notably faster and more convenient charging experience.
