Samsung Rules Out Immediate Monetisation of Galaxy AI, Focus on Expanding Adoption

Samsung has confirmed that it has no immediate plans to charge users for its Galaxy AI features, with the company prioritising adoption over monetisation. The announcement comes as the South Korean technology giant accelerates the integration of artificial intelligence across its devices, including the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.

“Adoption of technology is the primary goal…I don’t see monetisation happening in recent time,” said Aditya Babbar, Vice President, MX Business, Samsung India. “Our focus is more on the adoption side. But we continue to closely monitor this, and we will go as per the industry trends.”

Samsung’s approach highlights its commitment to making advanced AI accessible to millions of users while strengthening its ecosystem. This strategy follows the strong response to the Fold 7 launch, which secured 2,10,000 pre-bookings in India.

A Consumer-First AI Strategy
The company’s AI development is built on a “consumer-first approach,” focused on solving real-world challenges in communication, productivity, and photography. Babbar explained, “We put this segmentation of consumer use first and then [see] how AI can empower them to do it in the best way.”

This thinking led to features such as Live Translate, enabling users to understand callers in different languages. In photography, Samsung has identified three key moments for users: click, edit, and share. AI tools are particularly impactful during editing, allowing users to erase objects or reconstruct obscured parts of an image with on-device generative AI.

Customised AI Across Devices
Samsung is tailoring AI capabilities to match device form factors. On larger screens like the Galaxy Fold and tablets, productivity tools such as audio transcription and PDF summarisation are in demand, while flip-style phones see greater use of creative AI features. Tablets, meanwhile, are popular for functions like ‘Sketch to Image’.

To increase accessibility, Samsung has invested in over 20,000 experience zones across India, complete with Wi-Fi for live demos, ensuring users can test AI features firsthand. “The moment of truth happens to be a very, very important belief for the consumer,” Babbar noted, adding that significant resources have gone into training staff to highlight AI experiences beyond hardware specifications.

With an extensive retail presence and festive season strategies underway, Samsung’s mission remains clear: to put Galaxy AI into the hands of as many users as possible.
