Samsung has begun rolling out a fresh update to NavStar, one of the customization modules available under its Good Lock suite, bringing a set of functional and behind the scenes changes.
The update upgrades NavStar to version 8.0.00.69 and introduces 3 key changes. The first addition is support for “custom icon borders.” While Samsung has listed this as a new feature, it was not immediately visible on devices after installation, suggesting the option may be enabled gradually or require further configuration.
The second change focuses on permissions. With this update, NavStar no longer requests access to photos and videos. After uninstalling and reinstalling the app, users were still able to access on device media without being prompted for these permissions, indicating a streamlined permission process.
The third change addresses performance and reliability. Samsung states that the update fixes “FC and other issues,” pointing to improvements in app stability and reduced chances of crashes during use.
Users can update NavStar by opening the Galaxy Store, tapping the three line menu icon in the top left corner, selecting Updates, and choosing either Update all or the update icon next to NavStar. The update appears to be rolling out globally.
NavStar is part of Samsung’s Good Lock ecosystem, which allows deeper customization of the Galaxy user interface. In recent developments, Samsung also released a major update to another Good Lock module, Theme Park, adding several new features and introducing support for One UI 8.5.
Samsung continues to expand and refine its Good Lock modules, offering Galaxy users more control over personalization and system behavior through regular updates.
