A new phase in laptop display technology is taking shape as Samsung Display has reportedly started producing next-generation OLED panels for Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro models. The move highlights Samsung’s growing role as a key supplier of high-end displays for global technology brands.
Samsung is already known for making some of the world’s most advanced OLED panels used across smartphones, monitors, and other devices. Now, according to a tipster, Samsung Display has begun mass production of newer-generation OLED panels specifically designed for laptops. These panels are being manufactured at the company’s Asan A6 facility, which features an 8.6-generation OLED production line focused on dual-stack OLED technology.
The first product expected to use these panels is Apple’s next MacBook Pro, which is widely anticipated to launch in late 2026. While large-scale production was earlier expected to start in Q2 this year, reports suggest that manufacturing has begun at least 3 months ahead of schedule.
The new panels use dual-stack, also known as tandem OLED, technology. This approach stacks 2 OLED layers, allowing the display to achieve higher brightness levels while also improving durability and lifespan compared to current laptop OLED panels. These traits make the technology particularly suitable for premium laptops that demand both visual performance and long-term reliability.
The displays are said to deliver the best image quality ever seen on a laptop screen, setting a new benchmark in the category. Alongside the new OLED panels, upcoming MacBook Pro models are also rumored to introduce a touchscreen for the first time, along with a Dynamic Island-style punch-hole cutout.
Beyond display upgrades, the next-generation MacBook Pro lineup is expected to feature Apple’s M6 series chips, an improved FaceTime camera, and a thinner and lighter overall design. Together, these changes point to a major refresh aimed at pushing performance, usability, and design forward.
With Samsung Display accelerating production ahead of schedule, preparations appear to be well underway for Apple’s next premium laptop release, marking another step in the evolution of OLED technology in personal computing.
