Samsung May Partner With OpenAI, Perplexity to Bring AI Alternatives to Galaxy S26

Several AI services may be included in the Samsung Galaxy S26 series of smartphones, which are anticipated to launch in early 2026. According to a senior official who spoke to Media, Samsung is talking about incorporating more AI elements from other companies into its next devices, which will complement Google’s Gemini AI. According to a previous claim, the business may take Gemini’s place as the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup’s default AI helper. In the past, rival Motorola declared that it has teamed up with Google, Microsoft, and Perplexity to expand the capabilities of its Moto AI suite.

Samsung in Discussions With Multiple Vendors for AI Alternatives

Samsung President and Mobile eXperience COO Choi Won-Joon stated in an interview with media that the company is now in negotiations with many suppliers in order to provide customers with additional alternatives with its forthcoming flagship smartphones. Additionally, he stated that the business is “open to any agent out there”

These reportedly include Perplexity and OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, which collaborated with Apple to provide AI capabilities on newer iPhone models. To include AI capabilities into their phones, some OEMs, including Motorola, have teamed up with Perplexity, Google, and Microsoft.

The disclosure follows a month-long rumor that Samsung was about to sign a contract with Perplexity. It was reported at the time that Samsung intended to replace the Gemini AI assistant with Perplexity’s AI assistant in the next Samsung Galaxy S25 series of smartphones.

Earlier this month, Samsung held a launch event to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The most recent Galaxy Z Flip 7 phones have the company’s own Exynos CPUs, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip.

The source claims that Samsung has not yet chosen between using Qualcomm’s next Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 CPU, which is slated to be introduced at the chipmaker’s annual launch event in September, or an Exynos 2600 SoC for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series.

With the anticipated release of the first foldable iPhone next year, Apple is predicted to compete with the South Korean tech giant. According to analysts, Samsung Display and other suppliers may benefit from Apple’s entry into the market as it may be the only provider of “crease-free” foldable displays for the alleged iPhone Fold.
