Samsung may introduce cross-platform file sharing with Apple devices in Galaxy S26 series

Just hours before its official unveiling, a new leak suggests that Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones could bring a major change to device connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup — including the Samsung Galaxy S26+ and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra — is reportedly expected to support Apple’s AirDrop-style file transfers through Samsung’s Quick Share feature.

According to information shared by a tipster on X, the new devices may allow users to send files directly to iPhones using Apple’s AirDrop functionality. Samsung smartphones already use Quick Share for file transfers within the Android ecosystem, and the feature could now expand to enable sharing across platforms. This would place it alongside Google, which previously introduced similar compatibility on its latest Pixel flagship smartphones.

A screenshot shared alongside the leak indicates that users may be able to transfer files between Samsung devices and Apple products, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other AirDrop-supported devices. To initiate transfers, the receiving Apple device must set AirDrop visibility to “Everyone.” It’s users would need to enable Quick Share from the quick panel to make their device discoverable.

The leak also suggests that while “Share with Apple devices” is turned on, the Samsung phone may temporarily disconnect from Wi-Fi networks while searching for or transferring files to Apple devices. The functionality is also expected to reach older Samsung smartphones through the upcoming One UI 8.5 update.

If confirmed, this feature could significantly improve data sharing between Android and Apple ecosystems, an area that has traditionally remained restricted. Given Samsung’s strong position in the global smartphone market, wider AirDrop compatibility could benefit a large number of Android users.

Last year, Google introduced AirDrop compatibility through Quick Share on its Pixel 10 series, and the feature was later expanded to the Pixel 9 lineup.
