Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 May Fall Short on Battery and Durability

As the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 approaches, new leaks have surfaced, raising concerns about two key features: battery life and durability. While Samsung has built a strong reputation in the foldable smartphone segment, the upcoming models may not bring major improvements in these areas.

According to a tech report, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was recently listed in EU battery certification documents. The leak suggests that the device will carry forward the same battery capacity as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, featuring a 4272mAh unit, which is expected to be marketed as 4400mAh. The phone could offer a usage time of up to 40 hours and 28 minutes on a single charge.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, may see a small improvement. It is tipped to pack a 4174mAh battery, which could be presented as a 4300mAh battery during launch. This model might last up to 42 hours and four minutes per charge. Both foldables are expected to retain up to 80 percent battery health even after 2000 charging cycles.

On the durability front, both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are likely to come with an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance, the same as last year’s models. Earlier expectations hinted at a possible IP68 rating for better water resistance, but recent developments suggest this may not happen. This could be seen as a letdown, especially as competing brands push for more rugged foldables.

While the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to bring design and performance improvements, the lack of noticeable upgrades in battery and durability might give potential buyers second thoughts.
