Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra to Feature Record-Breaking RAM and Advanced AI Capabilities

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is making headlines with reports that it will carry the fastest RAM ever seen in a smartphone. With speeds reaching up to 10.7 Gbps, the device is expected to offer exceptional performance, challenging brands such as Apple, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Vivo. The launch is anticipated in January 2026, alongside the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Edge. It will run OneUI 8.5 based on Android 16 and feature advanced AI technology.

A major leap from the Galaxy S25 Ultra
Succeeding the Galaxy S25 Ultra released earlier this year, the S26 Ultra will keep a similar design but introduce significant hardware improvements. It will house a quad rear camera setup, including a 200MP primary lens, along with 50MP, 48MP and 10MP cameras. Photography will be further enhanced by periscope zoom and 10x optical zoom features.

Fastest LPDDR5X RAM yet
Reports indicate that the device will be powered by LPDDR5X RAM capable of 10.7 Gbps data transfer speeds. Built using 12nm process technology, this DRAM chip is the smallest produced by Samsung so far. First revealed in April 2024, it is said to improve performance by up to 25 per cent.

There is also speculation that the Galaxy S26 Ultra may debut the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 processor, although some sources suggest this chipset may have quietly appeared in the Galaxy S25 Ultra without official confirmation.

Expected specifications
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.9 inch OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 3 chipset, with up to 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. A 5500mAh battery will support 45W wired and 25W wireless charging. For photography, it will include four rear cameras (200MP + 50MP + 48MP + 10MP) and a 42MP front camera. The device will operate on Android 16 with the OneUI 8.5 interface.

With mass production of the new DRAM beginning in late 2024, Samsung is aiming to raise the bar for speed and efficiency. Coupled with advanced AI features, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is set to redefine flagship smartphone performance.
