Samsung Galaxy Book6 Ultra draws MacBook Pro–like design with strong multimedia performance

Samsung’s latest Galaxy Book6 Ultra has sparked comparisons with Apple’s MacBook Pro 16, with the new laptop adopting several design elements similar to Apple’s flagship device. Despite the resemblance, the Galaxy Book6 Ultra positions itself as Samsung’s most powerful multimedia laptop to date.

The design of the Galaxy Book6 Ultra shows clear similarities to the MacBook Pro 16. Samsung has moved away from the wedge-shaped base unit previously used in the Galaxy Book4 Ultra and other Galaxy Book6 models. Instead, the new design features rounded corners, a keyboard layout without a numeric keypad, side-mounted speakers and a large haptic trackpad. Without visible branding, the device closely resembles Apple’s MacBook Pro design.

The laptop features a premium aluminium chassis, delivering a solid and high-quality build. However, some users may notice that the hinges could be firmer, as slight display wobbling can occur during use.

Samsung has also redesigned the keyboard by removing the numeric keypad. While the layout improves symmetry, the shallow key travel may not provide the best typing experience. Competing 16-inch multimedia laptops such as the Asus ProArt P16 and Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i 16 offer stronger typing performance.

In terms of hardware, Samsung uses soldered RAM in the Galaxy Book6 Ultra. Some regions may only receive configurations with 32 GB RAM, although the maximum supported capacity is 64 GB. The laptop allows storage expansion through two M.2-2280 SSD slots, though these support PCIe 4.0 rather than the newer PCIe 5.0 standard.

Performance is one of the laptop’s strongest areas. The combination of an Intel Panther Lake processor and Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics delivers strong computing power suitable for multimedia work, creative tasks and demanding applications. At the same time, fan noise remains relatively controlled during heavy workloads.

The Galaxy Book6 Ultra features an OLED display, which delivers strong colors and contrast. However, in terms of peak brightness, Apple’s MacBook Pro Mini-LED display still performs better, particularly when displaying HDR content. One advantage for Samsung is the inclusion of touchscreen support, which is not available on the MacBook Pro.

Battery performance is also competitive, even though the Galaxy Book6 Ultra uses a smaller battery compared to Apple’s laptop. The device also includes a high-quality speaker system that provides strong multimedia audio performance.

Overall, Samsung’s Galaxy Book6 Ultra combines a premium design with strong hardware performance, offering a capable multimedia laptop that closely rivals Apple’s MacBook Pro in both appearance and functionality.
