Samsung is said to be upgrading its Bixby Live AI assistant with support from DeepSeek and Perplexity. The new changes were spotted in a beta version of the upcoming One UI 8.5 update, which is based on Android 16. The reported integration aims to help Bixby compete with Google Gemini Live by offering more advanced and interactive features.
An X user shared screenshots showing that Samsung has added Perplexity and DeepSeek chatbot support to Bixby. The assistant is now said to work with Circle to Search and can generate podcasts, music, audio files, images, videos, and documents. These outputs can also be attached to user queries.
The leak suggests that Bixby Live on One UI 8.5 will include eight agents named General, Tour Guide, Interview, Positive Support, Storyteller, Listening Ear, and Dress Matching. The interface is said to be similar to Google Gemini Live.
Bixby Live is also reported to read on screen content to generate replies. It can reportedly use the phone camera to solve equations and translate text. According to the leak, AI generated captions and annotations will be saved automatically on the device.
Users may be able to attach multiple images, videos, and documents to a single query. They can also share one screen or one app at a time for better responses. Samsung is said to allow users to download answers as PDF, Word, or text files for offline access.
The assistant is also expected to detect inactivity and close conversations automatically after some time. However, Samsung has not yet confirmed these features officially.
This is not the first time reports have pointed to Perplexity integration in Bixby. Earlier leaks suggested that Bixby already uses Perplexity to answer complex questions. Its icon was also seen next to “sources”, letting users check the origin of AI generated responses.
