Religare Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (RHDFCL) has appointed Pankaj Rathi as its Chief Financial Officer, strengthening the company’s focus on financial strategy and growth, the housing finance firm said on Monday. The move comes as RHDFCL seeks to expand housing finance access to underserved and informal segments in urban and semi-urban markets.
In his new role, Rathi will be responsible for building a diversified and cost-efficient funding base, ensuring capital adequacy, and driving disciplined balance sheet management in line with regulatory requirements. He will also oversee financial governance and compliance with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and National Housing Bank (NHB) norms.
“Pankaj brings the kind of financial leadership RHDFCL requires at this stage of its growth. His experience in scaling housing finance businesses, managing complex capital structures, and operating within demanding regulatory environments makes him well-suited for this role,” said Indranil Choudhury, Group CHRO at Religare Enterprises.
Rathi joins RHDFCL from Grihum Housing Finance, where he served as CFO and led the finance function through multiple ownership transitions. During his tenure, he raised over $1.3 billion through term loans, bonds, non-convertible debentures (NCDs), and securitisation structures. He also played a key role in managing credit ratings and driving upgrades.
Before that, he spent nearly seven years at Xander Finance as CFO, overseeing financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and fundraising. His earlier roles include stints at JM Financial, EY, and PwC.
