Reliance Jio’s 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) subscriber base has reached an impressive 6.88 million as of May, including customers utilizing unlicensed band radio. This significant growth positions Reliance Jio to potentially emerge as the world’s largest Fixed Wireless Access provider, surpassing T-Mobile, which reported 6.85 million subscribers in March.
Following a reclassification that moved approximately 1 million FWA unlicensed band radio subscribers into the Fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) category, Reliance Jio’s net FWA subscriber base stood at 5.9 million in May. The company continues to demonstrate robust growth, with a reported monthly addition of 0.74 million FWA customers.
Analysts at ICICI Securities are closely monitoring this rapid expansion, predicting that Reliance Jio is firmly on track to become the dominant global player in the FWA market by the end of June 2025.
This surge underscores the increasing demand for high-speed wireless broadband solutions, particularly in areas where fiber-to-home connectivity may be less accessible. Reliance Jio’s aggressive rollout and competitive offerings are clearly resonating with consumers, reshaping the landscape of global fixed wireless access.
