In a groundbreaking move that signals India’s rising dominance in the gaming world, Reliance-owned RISE Worldwide has entered into a strategic joint venture with Europe-based esports powerhouse BLAST. The partnership is set to revolutionise the Indian esports arena through cutting-edge tournaments tailored for the growing gamer base across the country.
As per an official exchange filing, Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) stated that the joint venture will offer end-to-end solutions – from tournament management, targeted marketing, production, and broadcasting to building strong collaborations with game publishers and sponsors.
The JV is poised to fuse BLAST’s global IPs, production excellence, and publisher ties with Jio’s powerful tech infrastructure, reach, and user base, especially on the JioGames platform. Together, they plan to create a vibrant, scalable ecosystem for competitive gaming in India.
In the words of BLAST CEO Robbie Douek, “By partnering with Reliance, a market leader with unparalleled expertise and reach in India, we have a unique opportunity to elevate the local esports scene to new heights… This joint venture will not only help grow the Indian esports ecosystem but also create new pathways for local talent to shine on the global stage.”
BLAST, well-known for its alliances with EA Games, Riot Games, EPIC Games, and Ubisoft, boasts 15+ million users and 707 million views on its platform. This new collaboration with Reliance signals a strong intent to tap into India’s explosive gaming growth.
RISE Worldwide, on the other hand, is already a giant in sports and event management, with marquee properties like Indian Super League and Lakmé Fashion Week under its belt. The company also handles media rights, licensing, sponsorships, athlete management, and much more.
With this JV, Reliance is now setting the stage to compete with homegrown giants like NODWIN Gaming, Loco, and India Gaming League, driving innovation and competition in equal measure.
This move comes at a time when India’s gaming ecosystem is flourishing, with 600+ million active gamers recorded in FY24 and a market revenue of $3.8 billion, according to Lumikai.
Together, Reliance and BLAST are not just building tournaments — they’re crafting a revolution, blending talent, tech, and opportunity into a new era for Indian esports.
