Redmi is reportedly preparing to expand its tablet line-up with a new compact yet powerful device aimed at flagship level performance. The upcoming tablet is expected to launch in the first half of 2026 and could be introduced as the Redmi K Pad 2, with a possible global rebrand as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2. Leaks indicate that Redmi is focusing on meaningful upgrades in display quality, battery life, audio performance and processing power, while continuing its strategy of offering high end features in a smaller form factor.
According to a Weibo post by Digital Chat Station, the new Redmi tablet is likely to succeed the Redmi K Pad launched last year. It is tipped to feature a custom 8.8 inch LCD display with 3K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Redmi is also expected to equip the tablet with a 9000mAh battery, a significant step up from the 7500mAh unit seen on the current model, suggesting improved endurance for gaming, media consumption and productivity.
Audio and haptics are also said to be a key focus for Redmi. The tablet is tipped to include dual X axis vibration motors and symmetrical dual speakers tuned by Bose. Redmi previously introduced Bose tuned speakers with the Redmi K90 Pro Max and Redmi K90 smartphones in China in October 2025. On the performance side, the tablet is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC, positioning it alongside Redmi’s upcoming performance driven smartphones. The launch is said to be planned alongside a flagship Redmi handset in the first half of the year.
The current Redmi K Pad was launched in June last year and later rebranded for select global markets as the Xiaomi Pad Mini. If Redmi follows the same approach, the new tablet could debut internationally as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2. The existing Redmi K Pad starts at CNY 2799, or roughly Rs. 33000, for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. It runs on Android 15 based HyperOS 2 and features an 8.8 inch 3.5K display with a 165Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 5 protection and up to 700 nits brightness. It is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chipset and includes a 13 megapixel rear camera, an 8 megapixel front camera, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, liquid cooling and dual X axis linear motors.
