Soteria Reinsurance Ltd. (SoteriaRe), a private Class E Bermuda-based reinsurance company established by Fidelity Investments, has announced the appointment of Rebecca Cairns as Chief Financial Officer. In this leadership role, she will oversee the company’s global finance strategy, financial reporting, and risk management. Rebecca will focus on strengthening operational excellence and supporting SoteriaRe’s continued growth in the reinsurance industry.
Rebecca has been associated with SoteriaRe for nearly two years, most recently serving as Head of Accounting. In that role, she led the company’s financial operations and regulatory reporting. Her expertise in both U.S. GAAP and Bermuda statutory frameworks has been instrumental in ensuring strong financial governance and compliance within the organisation.
Before joining SoteriaRe, Rebecca worked at Athene in Bermuda for more than two years, where she held the role of Director of Accounting and Transactions Advisory Group. She contributed significantly to the development of accounting policies for complex reinsurance transactions and led the implementation of U.S. GAAP LDTI (Long-Duration Targeted Improvements).
She also managed cross-functional training and supported seamless transition processes. During her earlier tenure as Finance Manager at Athene, she supervised SEC close processes and prepared senior management presentations for the firm’s co-investment reinsurance affiliate.
Earlier in her career, Rebecca served at Sompo International as a Senior Financial Accountant, handling global insurance accounting and reporting processes. She also gained valuable audit experience at PwC Bermuda and PwC Canada, where she delivered assurance services to major insurance and reinsurance clients under IFRS, U.S. GAAP, and Bermuda statutory regulations.
Rebecca holds a Master of Professional Accounting degree from the University of Saskatchewan. With more than ten years of experience in financial governance, regulatory compliance, and strategic accounting, she brings deep expertise to her new role. Her appointment underscores SoteriaRe’s commitment to financial strength, transparency, and client-focused excellence.
