Vivo Energy has announced the appointment of Rebecca Amoding-Rukidi as Head of Human Resources. In her new role, she will lead the company’s HR strategy across Africa, focusing on employee engagement, leadership development, and organisational transformation to support Vivo Energy’s mission of fuelling Africa’s future.
Before joining Vivo Energy, Rebecca served at the World Food Programme as a Human Resource Business Partner for nearly four years. She played a key role in the HR transformation agenda for WFP Uganda, providing leadership in HR operations, strategy, talent acquisition, and workplace culture. She advised senior management on all HR matters, led learning and development initiatives, and ensured the effective implementation of HR programmes in line with WFP’s Country Strategic Plan.
Earlier, Rebecca spent over nine years at a global consumer goods company, rising to Head of Human Resources for Uganda and Tanzania. She led culture transformation projects, talent management, succession planning, and employee engagement. Under her leadership, the company won multiple Employer of the Year Awards from the Federation of Uganda Employers between 2014 and 2020, including Gold, Silver, and Bronze recognitions for excellence in people development, HR analytics, and engagement.
Rebecca’s HR career began at a manufacturing company as Human Resources Manager, where she led industrial relations, performance management, and cultural transformation initiatives. She later joined a private clinic as Human Resource Manager, setting up HR systems, improving training and performance structures, and implementing employee welfare programs. She then moved to a hospital as Human Resources and Administration Manager, overseeing HR policy development, recruitment, training, administrative operations, and compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
Since 2021, Rebecca has also worked as a Transformational Coach and Mentor, supporting individuals and organisations in leadership growth and personal development. She holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies with a focus on Human Resource Management from the Uganda Management Institute, strengthening her expertise in strategic HR leadership.
