SMFG India Credit Co. Ltd. has named Ravi Narayanan as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the complete acquisition of the company by Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. In his new role, Narayanan will focus on improving asset quality, boosting profitability, and ensuring sustainable growth for the non-banking financial company.
With more than 25 years of experience in banking, Narayanan most recently served as Group Executive for Branch Banking, Retail Liabilities, Sales, Premium Banking, Virtual Relationship, and Third-Party Products at Axis Bank. He was also a Nominee Director on the Boards of Axis Direct and Axis Mutual Fund, where he contributed to strategic governance and business expansion.
Before joining Axis Bank, Narayanan had a distinguished 19-year tenure at HDFC Bank as Group Head for Branch Banking and Retail Trade FX. He oversaw extensive branch operations, managed liability product portfolios, and provided foreign exchange services to retail clients, playing a vital role in the bank’s consistent growth and market presence.
Narayanan began his career at Bank of America, gaining valuable experience in corporate and retail banking, customer relations, and operational management. His broad industry exposure and in-depth knowledge of the Indian financial sector are expected to guide SMFG India Credit through its next phase of transformation and expansion.
