A focused approach to prevention and enforcement has helped the Rachakonda police bring down cybercrime cases significantly over the past year.
The Rachakonda police reported a 19 per cent reduction in cybercrime incidents, with cases declining from 4,618 in 2024 to 3,734 in 2025. Officials attributed the drop to improved monitoring, faster response, and sustained public awareness efforts.
Rachakonda commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said that despite the overall decline, certain categories continued to dominate complaints. These included investment frauds, part time job scams, unauthorised transactions, fake customer care frauds, APK file traps, loan app harassment, and business related frauds.
“Swift coordination with financial institutions and advanced technical tracking significantly aided case detection and intervention,” he said.
One of the key achievements highlighted by the police was facilitating refunds worth Rs 40.10 crore to victims of cyber fraud during the year. The commissionerate also strengthened enforcement by executing PT warrants, arresting accused persons, and serving notices to offenders across multiple cybercrime categories.
Cyber awareness remained central to the policing strategy. The police emphasised that educating citizens plays a crucial role in preventing cyber offences and reducing victimisation. According to the police leadership, awareness campaigns and outreach programmes will continue as a core part of public safety initiatives.
The Rachakonda police said the combined focus on technology driven investigation, financial coordination, and citizen awareness has helped build a stronger response framework against cybercrime.
