On the 18th, the AI-driven defense startup “Quantum Aero” announced that it has raised 3.7 billion won in seed funding from ST Capital, OpenWater Angels, and two strategic investors. Established in February of the previous year, Quantum Aero specializes in importing AI drones and is the official partner of the U.S. defense company “Shield AI,” which focuses on developing autonomous flight technology powered by AI.
With this latest investment, Quantum Aero has reached a total funding of 4.7 billion won and has been valued at 50 billion won, just one year after its founding. In June of last year, Quantum Aero conducted combat trials of Shield AI’s vertical takeoff and landing unmanned aircraft, the “V-BAT,” aboard the Dokdo ship. The company is also exploring collaborative opportunities to deliver defense AI solutions by signing non-disclosure agreements with domestic defense firms, including Hanwha Aerospace.
Quantum Aero CEO Jeon Dong-geun said, “We will solve the structural issues faced by our military through the advancement of AI weapons systems in collaboration with large corporations,” and added, “We will also continue the second defense export boom in the global defense market.”
