Qualcomm has announced that its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies has completed the acquisition of Augentix, a company known for low power image signal processors and multimedia SoCs. The deal strengthens the hardware foundation of the Qualcomm Insight platform, which supports edge AI based smart surveillance across enterprise, industrial and public infrastructure sectors.
With this acquisition, Qualcomm Technologies will offer a broader and configurable range of smart camera solutions, from cost efficient devices to high performance systems. This helps solution providers scale deployments while keeping software control unified and managing costs more effectively.
A recent statement from a government technology ministry highlighted the growing need for secure and trusted IP camera platforms as digital infrastructure expands across India. The deal is expected to give Indian manufacturers access to high performance and affordable camera technologies for domestic and international use.
The integration allows for a spectrum of camera capabilities, from low power sensing devices for low risk areas to advanced analytics oriented cameras for high security environments. At the same time, existing development workflows, software stacks and analytics frameworks will remain consistent.
Augentix, founded in 2014, specialises in advanced SoCs and high resolution, low power video technologies used in enterprise surveillance, consumer video products and intelligent camera systems. As part of Qualcomm Technologies, its products will now play a central role in the Qualcomm Insight platform, supporting global partners and integrators working on scalable smart surveillance and edge AI deployments.
