The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch soon, and fresh reports suggest a major shift in its processor strategy. While earlier leaks claimed that Samsung would rely heavily on its in house Exynos 2600 chip, new information indicates that most Galaxy S26 models could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors instead.
According to a recent report, Qualcomm chief executive Cristiano Amon said during a global tech event that the company is in discussions with Samsung to manufacture the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip using Samsungs advanced two nanometre process. At present, Qualcomm produces its flagship chips using a three nanometre process.
Amon was quoted as saying, “premium phones, which Samsung focuses on, are experiencing high growth. Since Samsung always secures more than two suppliers, Qualcomm will be able to maintain a 75 percent market share for Galaxy APs.” This statement suggests that Snapdragon chips may dominate the Galaxy S26 lineup across most markets.
Another report from a South Korean publication claims that Samsung has already completed the two nanometre chip design with Qualcomm. The companies are said to be testing wafers and making performance adjustments, indicating that large scale production could begin soon.
Samsung is reportedly planning to allocate around 10 percent of its monthly production capacity at its Hwaseong facility to Qualcomm. Each two nanometre wafer is priced at about 20000 dollars. This could bring in significant annual revenue for Samsung.
Leaks also suggest that Samsung may return to its dual chip strategy. Snapdragon powered Galaxy S26 models could be sold in key markets such as the United States, Japan, and China. Exynos variants may be reserved for regions like South Korea and Europe. This would be a change from the Galaxy S25 series, which used Snapdragon chips in all regions.
Samsung is expected to host its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2026 in San Francisco on February 25. The company is likely to unveil the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra at the event.
