PVR INOX has introduced India’s first dine-in cinema at M5 ECity Mall in Bengaluru, offering moviegoers a complete evening of entertainment, food and comfort. The new concept combines blockbuster films with gourmet dining, aiming to transform cinema into a lifestyle destination.
“This format transforms the cinema into a lifestyle destination, giving audiences the freedom to enjoy chef-curated meals in-seat, without stepping out of the auditorium or even purchasing a movie ticket,” PVR INOX said in a statement. Guests can select from a variety of curated in-house food and beverage options designed to enhance the cinematic experience.
Aamer Bijli, exhibitor and lead director of marketing and innovation at PVR INOX, said, “Today, we are competing with OTT platforms, and consumers have other choices apart from cinema, such as recreational sports, health and wellness, and dining. We wanted to combine these aspects so that those who love to eat will also get an immersive cinema experience.”
Bijli added that the dine-in format offers chef-curated meals including fries, local treats, and hot dogs, elevating the traditional cinema food experience. The hall can also host gaming, comedy shows, corporate nights, and other live events. Its layout, LED lighting and comfortable seating make it suitable for a wide range of activities.
The two-seater table is priced at 1490, while the four-seater costs 1990, accommodating up to 70 people. “The number felt most optimal. We didn’t want to compromise on sightlines and have ensured a clear differentiation from other screens as far as comfort is concerned,” said Bijli. Pricing will follow a dynamic model based on the event and content.
This launch follows PVR INOX’s 2022 introduction of India’s first Director’s Cut in Bengaluru, offering a boutique cinema experience in place of the iconic Rex single-screen theatre. Comparing the two, Bijli noted, “The focal point of Rex is the movie-watching activity, but here we want to give our customers a culinary experience with their loved ones as they watch a film.”
