Pune : Two individuals have been swindled out of Rs 45 lakh by cyber fraudsters who promised them substantial returns on stock market investments.
In the first incident, a young man from Kharadi lost Rs 36.55 lakh. The cyber scammers reached out to him via his mobile phone, enticing him with the potential for profitable stock market opportunities. They added him to a social media group where they shared details about various investment plans. Trusting their claims, the victim transferred funds to the fraudsters’ accounts at different times. Unfortunately, he did not receive the expected returns. Upon realizing he had been deceived, he reported the incident to the Kharadi Police Station. Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan is currently investigating the case.
In a similar cyber fraud case, young man in Hadapsar was also targeted, losing Rs 8.41 lakh. He has since filed a complaint at the Wanowrie Police Station, where Senior Police Inspector Satyajit Adamane is leading the investigation.
