Protectera has announced the appointment of Chris Mawer as its new Chief Technology Officer. In his new role, he will lead the company’s strategy for expanding cloud, infrastructure and security services across the Asia Pacific region. His focus will be on building the next-generation platform for cloud automation, data protection and cybersecurity while shaping the future of technology operations.
Chris brings a wealth of global leadership experience to Protectera. Most recently, he served as Chief Digital Officer at a leading technology firm, where he aligned digital transformation programmes with business objectives across Asia Pacific. Prior to that, he held the role of Chief Technology Officer at the same organisation for six years, driving advancements in artificial intelligence, cloud solutions, data analytics and connectivity. During this period, he played a key role in delivering large-scale digital transformation projects in the banking, finance and telecom industries while mentoring teams and overseeing execution.
Alongside his corporate journey, Chris has been the Co-Founder and Board Advisor at ICG International since 2017. He contributed to building platforms such as CxO.me to mentor upcoming technology leaders and scaling IT.day events as leading summits for knowledge exchange and executive collaboration.
Earlier in his career, Chris held leadership positions with major global firms. At Red Hat, he worked as Principal Product Marketing Manager in the APAC CTO Office, supporting adoption of cloud and container technologies. At Riverbed Technology, he served as Principal Solutions Architect, advancing SD-WAN and emerging technologies. At Dell EMC, he played a key role in product marketing and systems engineering across Asia Pacific.
His professional journey also includes technology leadership roles at Content Security, Loop Technology and Hitachi Data Systems, where he gained extensive expertise in enterprise systems engineering, infrastructure and information security. Chris began his career as an independent consultant when he founded Cawer Technologies while still in school, reflecting his early entrepreneurial spirit and passion for technology.
With his diverse background and deep expertise, Chris is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Protectera’s technology vision and strengthening its position as a trusted leader in the region.
