Porsche has made significant leadership changes with the appointment of Jochen Breckner as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Matthias Becker as the new Chief Sales Officer (CSO), effective February 26, 2025. This follows the departure of the previous CFO, Lutz Meschke, and CSO, Detlev von Platen.
Both Breckner and Becker are internal appointments, having served in senior roles within Porsche’s management team. Breckner, who was previously Head of the General Secretariat and Corporate Development, will now oversee Finance and IT. Becker, who was instrumental in growing Porsche’s overseas and growth markets, takes on the responsibility for Sales and Marketing.
Porsche’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, expressed confidence in the new appointments, stating, “We are very pleased to have found two excellent successors from within the ranks of Porsche. Together with them, we will continue to write the unique success story of our company.”
However, the sudden move has raised questions in the industry about the reasons behind the early departure of Meschke and von Platen. Sources indicate that internal issues related to sales performance, particularly in China, played a role in the decision. Von Platen’s management of Porsche’s sales in China was reportedly a key factor, as the company faced challenges in reacting to market developments early enough, leading to weak sales and production.
Despite these challenges, Dr. Wolfgang Porsche thanked the departing executives for their contributions, acknowledging Meschke’s role in driving Porsche’s positive development and IPO. “We would like to thank Lutz Meschke for his great commitment and his many years of successful work for Porsche AG. He has decisively shaped the positive development of this company,” said Porsche. “I would also like to thank Detlev von Platen on behalf of the Supervisory Board. His many years of strong commitment have shaped Porsche.”
Breckner, who has been with Porsche since 2000, brings a wealth of experience to the CFO role. His background includes roles in Controlling and Corporate Development. Matthias Becker, though newer to Porsche since 2015, has held various senior roles at the VW Group and played a crucial role in expanding Porsche’s presence in key international markets.
