In a major crackdown on cybercrime, Rajasthan Police has moved court seeking permission to attach properties allegedly acquired through a large-scale fraud linked to the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. The network is accused of siphoning off crores of rupees by infiltrating beneficiary data of government welfare programs.
Police said the gang operated in an organised manner over a long period. Members allegedly manipulated government beneficiary records and added names of relatives and acquaintances to the eligible list to illegally receive payments. Commission was collected through agents, and the funds were later invested in movable and immovable assets.
So far, 51 accused, including the alleged mastermind, have been arrested. Investigators described the racket as one of the largest organised cyber fraud networks detected in the state. To dismantle it, “Operation Shutdown” was launched on October 22 last year.
How records were manipulated
According to police, the accused had defined roles. Some illegally accessed beneficiary data from government portals. Others altered records to insert fake names into official lists. The fraud proceeds were routed through multiple layers before being converted into property and assets to hide the source.
Assets traced to fraud money
Police recovered a large amount of sensitive digital data, including usernames and passwords of government officials’ SSO and PMK accounts. Farmer registration records from Rajasthan and other states were also seized.
The Superintendent of Police said an application has been filed to attach 22 houses, 8 plots, 2 agricultural lands, 1 shop, 16 cars, 18 motorcycles, 1 tractor, and 1 factory. The probe found that fraud money was used to buy expensive vehicles and properties.
The case has now been transferred to the Special Operations Group (SOG). Officials are examining technical evidence, server logs, and financial transactions to uncover the full network. Further arrests and property seizures may follow as the investigation continues.
