Police arrested five interstate fraudsters and seized 2,125 old mobile phones

Adilabad Two Town Police and cybercrime police detained five interstate scammers Tuesday as part of a massive crackdown on cybercrime. They also confiscated 600 batteries, 2,125 outdated cell phones, 107 SIM cards, and five Bihar two-wheelers.

Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan told the reporters that the primary suspect (A1) is evading capture and would be taken into custody shortly. Additionally, a team will be assembled and dispatched to Bihar.

According to the SP, a gang of six from Bihar was established as part of a scheme to perpetrate cybercrimes throughout the nation. The other five were despatched to Telangana with five two-wheelers by A1 and gang boss Thabaraq.

The group then used two-wheelers to travel, gathering used cell phones, SIM cards, and batteries from towns and rural regions in return for plastic tiffin boxes. In Gudithanoor, they kept the gathered gadgets in a room. He stated that Thabaraq in Bihar later received the cell phones.

According to Akhil Mahajan, Thabaraq and his friends subsequently made contact with people all around the nation, pretending to be bank representatives and offering them employment or lottery winnings. They gained OTPs, moved funds unlawfully from victims’ bank accounts, and used a variety of deceptive tactics.

He went on to say that they had previously conducted similar crimes and gathered between 10,000 and 12,000 cell phones from Karnataka. In order to avoid being apprehended by the authorities, they made use of outdated cell phones and SIM cards.

According to the SP, a complaint has been filed against the six members under a number of BNS provisions.
