In a move that blends precision with progress, Pioneer India, a wing of Japan’s renowned Pioneer Corporation, has officially opened the doors of its cutting-edge Research and Development Center in the tech heart of India, Bengaluru. This new hub aims to script a fresh chapter in the evolution of automotive and mobility technologies across India and the globe.
The R&D facility will bring into focus a diverse array of intelligent automotive systems including vision-based technologies like dash cameras, 360-degree vision, and digital mirrors, along with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The center will also shape futuristic digital cockpit solutions, AI-powered mobility data platforms, human-machine interfaces, and cloud-connected infotainment tailored for both two-wheelers and passenger vehicles.
Catering to OEMs, aftermarket requirements, fleet businesses, and insurance segments, the center is set to act as a cradle of region-specific innovation, especially for India’s fast-evolving auto ecosystem. The facility is also aimed at trimming down development cycles for domestic manufacturers.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiro Yahara, President and CEO of Pioneer Corporation, emphasized the significance of India’s skilled minds and growing transport tech landscape. Adding to this, Siva Subramanian, CEO of Pioneer Mobility AI & Connectivity Company, shared, “The center will contribute to the development of both local and global products.”
Equipped with state-of-the-art labs for software validation, embedded systems, camera testing, and electronics, the center also fosters cross-functional synergy with its collaborative workspaces. With hiring already underway, Pioneer is looking to expand its expert team across areas like AI, computer vision, embedded software, and cloud technology.
Founded in 2008, Pioneer India is already a familiar name in the car entertainment space with its lineup of stereos, dash cameras, speakers, and subwoofers. Alongside its R&D centers in Gurugram and Bengaluru, the company is laying the groundwork to start local production of in-car devices by 2026, aiming to complete its value chain within the country.
