Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced the appointment of Phil Mottram as Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer, effective 1 November 2025. In his new role, Mottram will lead HPE’s global sales teams across its Servers and Hybrid Cloud solutions, while also managing the company’s channel and partner ecosystem.
Mottram joined HPE in 2019 and has held key leadership positions, including four years leading HPE’s networking business. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President of Growth Markets after a successful tenure as Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE Aruba Networking. During this time, he drove record revenue growth and profitability through innovation, operational discipline, and strong sales leadership.
Antonio Neri, President and CEO of HPE, praised the appointment, stating, “Phil is an exceptional fit for this role with his deep understanding of and focus on customer needs, collaborative leadership style, global perspective, and track record of driving growth. His experience leading HPE Aruba Networking will facilitate strong connections across the entirety of HPE’s portfolio.”
With more than three decades of experience in the global technology sector, Mottram has held several senior roles across Europe, the United States, and Asia Pacific. He began his career in sales at AT&T and went on to hold leadership positions at Sprint, BT, and Telstra before moving into business leadership roles at CSI, Vodafone, and Zayo.
Mottram holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Lincoln, United Kingdom. Beyond his corporate career, he is also a keen triathlon participant, having competed in events such as the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, IRONMAN Austria, and Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco, often to support charitable causes.
Mottram succeeds Heiko Meyer, who is retiring after 38 years with HPE. Reflecting on his career, Meyer said, “I joined HP in 1984 as a student in Germany and immediately connected to the company’s culture of high performance, customer-first mentality, and community impact. Leading our Global Sales organisation has been the highlight of my career. I retire from HPE feeling proud of the team and fortunate to have spent my career in service of our customers and partners.”
