Perplexity Launches Comet Browser with AI Food Ordering and Productivity Features

Perplexity AI has introduced a new browser called Comet that allows users to order food directly from restaurants using simple AI prompts. This new feature removes the need for traditional delivery apps and is designed to make the process faster and more cost-efficient. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas shared that this launch marks a step forward in combining AI with everyday internet use.

Comet is currently available as an invite-only beta. It lets users give natural language instructions such as “order dinner from Chipotle,” and the browser takes care of the rest by interacting directly with restaurant websites. This eliminates middle platforms while keeping the convenience of home delivery.

The browser goes beyond food ordering. Comet can also help users automate tasks on LinkedIn. It can draft messages, create posts, and suggest relevant connections, showcasing its ability as a functional AI assistant.

Built on Chromium, Comet offers a familiar browsing experience while adding powerful AI features. Users can ask the browser to summarize webpages, translate content, compare products, or even book appointments. All these actions are managed through easy-to-use conversational commands in one unified interface.

According to Srinivas, AI browsers will soon become more impactful than traditional chatbots. He believes that agent-powered browsers like Comet will evolve into full AI operating systems that can manage tasks independently while still offering users control and privacy.
