Perplexity to launch Comet AI browser for iPhone users in March

A new phase in mobile browsing is approaching as Perplexity prepares to bring its AI-powered browser Comet to iPhone users, expanding access to its agent-driven search experience.

According to the official app listing on the Apple App Store, the Comet AI browser will be available for download starting March 11. At present, the listing shows a “Get” button, along with preview images that offer a first look at how the browser will appear on iPhones.

Comet is already available on Mac, Windows, and Android platforms. The AI browser was first released for Android users in November last year and is now set to make its iPhone debut.

Based on the images shared on the app listing, Comet moves beyond traditional page-based browsing and introduces a more interactive, dialogue-focused experience. The company says the browser brings everything into a single interface that understands user intent, reducing the need to switch between multiple tabs or separate applications.

The browser can manage entire browsing sessions, helping users organise tasks, simplify workflows, and limit interruptions, including advertisements.

Comet is positioned as a tool for activities such as product comparisons, research tasks, and handling complex queries. A side-panel assistant can generate summaries of web pages, answer user questions, and perform actions like booking hotels, sending emails, or completing online purchases.

An integrated assistant also provides context-aware responses based on the content currently visible on the screen, allowing users to interact with information in real time.

Perplexity describes Comet as a “browser for agentic search,” highlighting its broader focus on AI-driven tools designed to manage advanced tasks with minimal manual input.

In this context, agentic search refers to an AI-led approach where the system understands intent and context to independently carry out multi-step actions and collect relevant information. Comet is built on Perplexity’s own search engine, offering AI-generated responses compiled from sources across the web.
