Perplexity AI has introduced its new Email Assistant for Gmail and Outlook, designed to schedule meetings, draft emails, and prioritise messages based on user needs. The feature is now available to Max subscribers.
The assistant learns from each user’s communication style and composes emails in a matching tone. It also tracks priorities and suggests meeting schedules using calendar inputs. Unlike simple automation tools, it is presented as a full productivity assistant that adapts to workflows and manages reminders, sorting, and communication preferences.
According to Perplexity, the Email Assistant can also summarise conversations, rank important emails, and respond to inbox-related queries. For example, users can ask, “Summarise all messages regarding the Q4 budget?” or, “What emails should I prioritise before my board meeting?”
Perplexity has confirmed that the Email Assistant is GDPR and SOC 2 compliant, with user data kept private as it is never used for training. The Perplexity Max plan costs $200 (around Rs 17,748). To activate the service, users can connect their email accounts via the assistant hub and include [email protected] in email threads.
Alongside this, Perplexity also launched Comet, its AI-powered browser, for Pro subscribers in India on September 22. Comet functions as an AI agent that automates routine online tasks, such as managing tabs, summarising emails, and navigating web pages. Unlike traditional browsers like Chrome or Edge, it features a workspace view, remembering what users are reading or working on to offer relevant suggestions.
The AI sidebar in Comet can also act as an assistant, allowing users to purchase products, set up meetings, or turn a webpage into an email using simple text commands. Perplexity stated that more advanced features for the browser will be added soon.
