GXO Logistics, Inc., a global leader in advanced logistics and supply chain solutions, has announced the appointment of Paul Durkin as its new Chief Operating Officer. In this position, he will lead GXO’s global operations, accelerate digital transformation, and strengthen customer-focused logistics capabilities across major markets.
With over 30 years of experience in logistics, digital transformation, and customer innovation, Paul Durkin is recognised for his forward-thinking leadership and expertise in building technology-driven, scalable supply chain operations. His extensive background positions him to drive GXO’s mission of delivering smart, efficient, and sustainable logistics solutions worldwide.
Before joining GXO, Paul spent 18 years at Wincanton, one of the United Kingdom’s largest supply chain companies. Most recently, he served as Chief Customer and Innovation Officer, leading digital and automation initiatives that enhanced the company’s operational flexibility and customer experience. As Managing Director of Digital and eFulfilment, he guided Wincanton’s expansion into digital commerce and next-generation fulfilment, driving innovation and strategic partnerships that supported significant business growth.
Earlier in his tenure at Wincanton, Paul served as Director of Home and DIY, where he managed a retail portfolio worth more than 200 million pounds. He delivered multi-channel logistics solutions for major clients including B&Q, Screwfix, and M&S, setting new standards in customer satisfaction, integrated logistics, and omnichannel service delivery.
Before his long and successful career at Wincanton, Paul was Business Director at DHL Exel, where he managed growth and P&L performance for key retail accounts such as Debenhams, Carpetright, Carphone Warehouse, and BAA. His strategic leadership improved operational performance and helped secure long-term client partnerships in a highly competitive retail logistics environment.
Paul began his career at Tibbett & Britten, progressing from a graduate trainee to Account Director over 13 years. His experience included four years as Regional Manager in Hong Kong and China, where he gained deep insights into international logistics, cross-border supply chains, and multicultural team leadership.
Throughout his career, Paul Durkin has been recognised for driving innovation-led transformation, combining operational expertise with a strong focus on customer experience and digital efficiency. His leadership at GXO is expected to strengthen the company’s position as a global leader in smart and sustainable supply chain management.
